Having a Pinterest marketing strategy can help grow your online business this year. This blog post is all about how using Pinterest marketing can help you reach your target demographic or customer.

What’s up friends?!

So, this week I want to talk about Pinterest marketing and why it is a great place to focus your marketing strategy this year. Even if you’re a beginner or a seasoned Pinner, I’m pretty sure you’re going to be blown away with some of the data I found!

I know there is this term going around right now called ‘omnipresence’ which is being used in the context of your brand and your business being on EVERY PLATFORM so you’re establishing yourself as an authority or expert on each platform.

This is a great plan…if you have the money to spend on ad’s and a team to help you create and deliver content on each platform OR if you want to burn yourself out creating content for each platform and then wondering how you’re supposed to actually work IN your business and not just ON building your business.

I fell into the latter category at the beginning of 2019 when I was on every platform and not just on every platform but in Facebook groups. Yikkkeeeees.

This took me down the rabbit hole of being on social media all.the.time. And I didn’t just copy and pasting content into these Facebook groups but also responding and replying to comments and other people’s posts within the Facebook groups.

And it was fun…for awhile.

But soon I found myself working way too hard. And burning out. And getting annoyed. And frustrated.

The real kicker came when I looked at my website analytics and discovered that 80% of my traffic was coming from Pinterest. The other 20% was divided by google, Facebook, and other random traffic sources.

When I saw this, I realized I had to go back to what I know. Pinterest was what I started with and it got me results. For some reason, I felt like I had to jump back into what everyone else was doing with Facebook and Facebook groups. But all that really did was create frustration and burn out. It is exhausting trying to keep up with everyone else.

So… Why Pinterest? Why is it a viable tool for your business?

I’m going to get real nerdy here and give you some stats:

A study done by Oberlo suggested that 82 percent of weekly active users on Pinterest says they have bought products based on the brand’s posted content on Pinterest. What does this mean for your brand or online business? People are doing product research on Pinterest!

In March 2018, Pinterest released a survey that stated 90 percent of weekly users use Pinterest to make purchase decisions. Again, Pinterest users are likely using the platform to find products and see other user’s or customer’s experiences.

One out of every two millennials is a Pinterest user. Not only that but a study was done by Kleinerperkins in 2019 discovered that six out of every ten millennials use Pinterest to discover new products. The study also suggests that Pinners say that Pinterest has become a source of inspiration for living a life they desire and making dreams come true.

According to Pinterest 73% of US women, ages 25-54 use Pinterest. However, 40% of *new* Pinterest sign-ups are men. So, expect a huge surge of male-centered content coming your way.

Pew Research found that a rising tax bracket means a rising likelihood of Pinterest use. For instance, 39 percent of people in households worth $75,000 USD or more per year use Pinterest. What does this mean for your business? It means that Pinterest users have the income to use to buy your products or services.

Pinterest marketing is also a great way to automate your marketing utilizing apps like Tailwind that will post and rotate your content for you. This will leave you with time to actually work IN your business instead of ON your business

But outside of the numbers, let’s talk about how important it is to have evergreen content for your brand.

Evergreen content is content that is always relevant or available. Kind of like those evergreen trees that keep their leaves through all the seasons.

With evergreen content, you might be putting up a little more effort by writing a blog post and creating Pins, but this will continue to drive traffic to your website. The other option is to continue to create content daily on every platform….where it is only viable for 24 hours and 1-3% of your audience see’s it.

But I digress 😉
