Hello, my sweet sweet friends!

So this is rather exciting by over the next few weeks, I have gathered a few wonderful women in the mindfulness and wellness community to write blog posts for Livingbreely!

Did you know that Livingbreely has been around for a year?! A YEAR! And over this year, I’ve reached 100,000 of you.

Now out of that 100,000, a large percentage of you lovelies are mommies! I am not a mommy but it is my commitment to creating content that serves you – and I’m honoring my commitment but having women, just like you, write for Livingbreely!

This first guest post is from Sarah at CalmEssence! We connected on Twitter recently because she shared one of my posts about meditation. I loved the support she was offering and I wanted to return the favor!

Sarah is a mommy who uses essential oils in her everyday life, including keeping her kiddos happy and healthy!

I’ve recently dived into using essential oils and I can’t believe how fantastic they are! Now I’m wondering why I waited SO long?!

Here is Sarah’s routine and how she using essential oils in her routines:

I don’t know about you, but I am a busy mom who has to take purposeful and planned time to ensure I have some time to take care of myself.  I find I am a better wife, and mom when I take that little bit of extra time to give myself some self-love. I have found a few things that really make a difference and so I try to incorporate them into my daily routines, almost all of them include the use of doTERRA essential oils!

Like most moms I go at a break-neck speed from 5:30 am until around 10:30 at night. So, I have to start my day right. I love starting my morning with a few drops of essential oils in the bottom of my shower, this promotes a very calming effect for me and helps me get centered for the day that’s ahead.  I love to use a citrus oil like wild orange or Bergamot they help wake me up but it does so in a very calming way!

Next up is coffee, but not any coffee. I build time into my morning to brew fresh espresso to put into my homemade creamer. I will make it hot or cold based on what the weather is like outside.  Having those five to ten minutes built into my day allows me a few minutes of quiet to enjoy the morning.

Next, I start the morning routine with the kids to get them up and out of the door, but before we head out we add a bit of the doTERRA protective blend to the bottoms of our feet (to help keep us healthy) and a bit of lavender either behind our ears or to the tips of our hair (to help promote calmness).  And then it is off to the races.

While at work, I make sure to take a break and use my weighted scarf with a few more drops of oil on the interchangeable leather tab to increase my awareness of my breathing and to just take five to ten more minutes to focus on me. I love to use some of the oils like Breathe or Clary Sage to increase my focus for the afternoon ahead. Taking those five to ten minutes even if it’s during my lunch break allows me to close my eyes, breathe deep, and refocus. The weight of the scarf on my shoulders increases my mindfulness of breathing and decreases my stress.

The afternoons are always filled with getting dinner ready, homework, sports and other extracurricular activities that the kids participate in. After the afternoon is done and the kids are in bed I spend some time with my husband but I also steal a few more minutes to treat myself.  I will take my makeup off and use some of the blue tansy essential oil mixed in with some of my favorite doTERRA moisturizers. Then I will add some calming oils to our diffusers in our bedroom. Once we are ready for bed, we will climb under our Calmessence blankets (I usually have Serenity or On Guard on the interchangeable leather tab) and talk further about our day, particularly focusing on what was positive.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a day at the spa and long steam filled showers, but in today’s world it just isn’t something that we can do every day.  Nevertheless, I have found it very easy to incorporate our doTERRA essential oils and the Calmessence weighted blankets into the routine of our life. The really cool part is, I see my kids following my footsteps!  I see them reaching for their scarf or blanket and using the oils that they love to help them calm down or focus based on what they are doing.

How do you use oils in your self-care routine?
