I don’t say this lightly when I say that your mindset is the #1 thing holding you back in life.

I say it because I’ve lived it.

My entire life changed when my mindset changed – literally my entire life.

As I’ve begun to create the content for my courses and coaching curriculum, I’ve been forced to reflect on what techniques have or have not worked for me. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks…I realized how much my own mindset has shifted within a year.

Mindset –huh?- what?

Our mindset is the stories we tell ourselves. Our mindset is the perspective that we have on our life, choices, relationships, family, careers, health, money etc. It’s the reflection of the movie that’s playing inside our head of what our lives look and feel like. Your own personal reality TV show – if you will.

I also believe that our mindset is the driving force in accomplishing any goal – big or small.

There are two types of mindsets.

There is a fixed mindset and a growth mindset.

A fixed mindset looks something like this:

That is easy for them – they were probably just born smart.
It would be easier for me to just quit now – that’s too much work.
I’ll stick with what I know. Either I’m good at it or I’m not.
My life is ‘ok’ – I really shouldn’t complain, it could be worse.
I’ve tried everything, so there is no hope for me.
Things have always been this way – there is no point in trying to fix them now.

A growth mindset looks like this:

I’m down to try new things – even if I suck at them, who cares?
I’ll use another strategy if this one doesn’t work out – my failures help me learn.
I wonder how ‘they’ did it – let me learn from them.
Even though this is difficult – I know that it will help me out in the long run.
I view life with a sense of impermanence – I know I have the power to change my life at any time.
I trust myself that I can figure out anything – I have the tools within myself to handle any curve ball life, inevitably, throws at me.

Ya’ll our mindset is EVERYTHING. *aggressively claps hands*

What is your mindset like? I’d love to hear about it!

When I was in the thick of my anxiety – I had a very fixed mindset. I was “ok” with the thought that my life was just going to be full of anxiety, bad relationships, working a job that I hated and surviving off of my ‘comfortable’ salary. I figured that it would just be best to isolate myself from my friends and family so they wouldn’t have to ‘deal’ with me or my anxiety.

Once I began to utilize certain strategies and found my own tribe of resources, my mindset drastically shifted.

For example, I began to look at other bloggers who had successful blogs and businesses and thought – “Why not me? I’m perfectly capable of doing this too. It might be hard but so is having anxiety and I’ve already learned how to use it to my advantage”…instead of “They probably have a fancy degree, had a bunch of money to invest into their business and they are probably super intelligent!”

Or maybe you look at your friend’s relationship and think – “Partners like that are never attracted to me. I’m too broken for anyone to love me as deeply as they love each other. I’ve had too many bad relationships –I’ll never find healthy love.”

A new mindset would be: “I totally deserve that type of love. Maybe I don’t have it right now, but I know that it’s on the way. Even though I’ve had some bad relationships in the past – it’s never too late for me to find someone to love me for me.”

Can you relate?

This isn’t some woo-woo bullshit, folks.

When my mindset began to shift – the opportunities became endless. There wasn’t anything that was off limits.

My energy increased. I was sleeping better and naturally eating healthier. My routines came together with ease. I was restless in getting things accomplished. And not just ‘things’ but making progress in my goals. My relationships improved – I naturally dropped people who were low-vibe and unsupportive.

I want this for you too.

It’s time for you to break out of your fixed mindset and step into your power.

I know you’ve been waiting, hoping for a sign or something – anything – to show you that you’re ready for transformation.

This is your sign.

You deserve this.

Listen, sister (or brother! It’s 2018), I know what it’s like to wake up every morning with a pit in your stomach because you just don’t know how the day is going to go. Being anxious and nervous about your career. Worrying about if you’re living up to parents or families expectations of you. Feeling pulled in a million different directions and trying to put your hands on everything.

That’s not living – that’s just surviving.

  1. Great post and blog, like all the freebies too. I agree, mindfulness is what we often forget, but really do need. Than you for reminding.

  2. What a great post!! I can totally relate to this. Ever since I changed my mindset, life has been so good and I am thriving everyday as a person, which is so important not only for me, but for my family and the people around me.

  3. I really enjoyed this post. I feel like I was raised with a fixed mindset, but as I grew up I changed. I tried and learned new things and I hope I now have a growth mindset. At least I’m trying to anyway!

  4. I am still struggling with the fixed mindset but the “why not me?” attitude is starting to hit me. Rather than be envious of what others have achieved, I am going to try harder to make it happen for me, too.

  5. I really think mindset has a lot to do with where you are in life too. I find for the most part I am growth, until it comes to my forgetfulness and weight then I tend to be more fixed. I’m trying to change that, and yet if I really did try it would be happening. You gave a lot of food for thought. Thank you!

  6. Such a wonderful post! I hear (read) you and I want to be positive but, in a blink of an eye the positiveness of the thought is gone. I know you can’t help me because I’m aging and have real health issues, if I was younger I’d take you up on that 30 minutes. It was very kind of you to offer everyone by the way. I think about trying to be positive but I just can’t talk myself into it.

  7. You wrote that our mindset is the driving force in accomplishing any goal. That’s why I like to memorize Bible verses and dwell on them. They chase away fear and doubt when we believe the Lord’s promises.

  8. This is the first thing I read today Morning and am I glad I did! Wonderful post & you are generous with your freebies.
I absolutely am aligned to your thoughts here and I still often venture into the dark zone but I am definitely trying to put in more effort to become better at my thoughts & mindset.

  9. Such a wonderful and interesting post. I like your point of view that mindset will change something in our lives, that mindset is our perspective and like our own reality tv show. Thank you for sharing this with us it is a great help.

  10. This is definitely a post I can relate to and I found it so helpful and informative. I am sure so many people are going to get a lot of help from reading this.

  11. It’s true. Most of our power lies right between our ears. We can change our lives with a simple thought or action

  12. Great post! This is so informative and helpful. We always need to have a positive mindset and be optimistic.

  13. I agree, a shift in mindset is everything. It can change you from dreading tomorrow to being excited to jump out of bed the next day. You are amazing for offering the free coaching session!

  14. This is all so true!🙌
As an entrepreneur it can be so easy to get stuck in that “fixed” mindset. Especially when you see other more successful business owners killing it and you feel like a potato. 😂

Just shifting my mind set with the little things has done wonders for my personal growth. Instead of thinking “I could never be that successful” I think “What did they do to be so successful?”

Sometimes your brain just needs to get its wheels turning!

  15. I love this! I believe our blogs are very aligned in the message were trying to send 🙂 Love it! I can’t wait to keep reading.

  16. I definitely feel like I am always between both mindsets. It also depends which realm of my life is causing me stress at the time. Finding balance within these really comes with accepting downfalls while still keeping hope that there is always opportunity for growth! Great post 🙂

  17. This is an amazing post that more people need to read! Definitely sharing it. I need to keep this in mind myself sometimes but working on my life everyday 🙂 great job!

  18. This is very true. Sort of like the saying you are your own worst enemy, right? I have to heed this advice a bit more!

  19. This was a great reminder about the two different types of mindsets.. I feel like I have been moving more in the direction of the growth mindset but it can take some dedication to keep up with, too. Great post!

  20. Having a fixed mindset will only keep you from learning new things and achieving your full potential. We can only grow as a person if we step out of our comfort zones and be ready to face challenges.

  21. I learned along time ago that the battles are in my brain. I try to be mindful of my thoughts as I know that my thoughts will often lie to me and if I believe the lies I end up hurt, angry, and disappointed.

  22. I am really trying to have more of a growth mindset – having a fixed one for me personally causes trouble for myself sometimes. Great post to read, made me think!

  23. I can have a fixed mindset on certain things, and I know I need to change that. What keeps me stagnant is the thought that I am middle aged, so it just makes me content with what I am right now. I know learning and growth should be dynamic, regardless of age. Thank you for your inspiring post. Never too late to write an award winning novel, right?

  24. I love this Bible verse about mindset. Isaiah 26:3–“Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusts in Thee.”

  25. As someone who offers services that will help people deal with loss or illness, I believe in how much our mind can help us achieve our goals. I think it’s powerful and there’s so much that it can do. It’s just really how we see things. I agree with you completely on this!

  26. Of course i can so relate with the two different mindsets. I read it twice. You put forth the points so clean and simple. i bookmarked this read. It helped me. Thanks a lot.

  27. I just started a positivity planner. It is intended to refocus the mindset everyday and night to the things that I have done well and am grateful for.

  28. This really spoke to me. I’m struggling with negative self talk right now as I venture into blogging. I reallt want to be able to eventually do it full time, but I doubt myself son much. I need to stop and change my mindset right now! *aggressively claps hands* 😊

  29. 53877 195793This really is a proper weblog for would like to uncover out about this subject.
