Last year, I really solidified my meditation practice and decided to dedicate a small space to meditation. It is a dream of mine to have an entire room specifically for meditation but I’m currently waiting for my mansion to manifest itself. (Jokes!)

I know what you’re thinking…You can meditate ANYWHERE. And you’re so right! Meditation can be done anywhere. That’s one of the beautiful things about it!

However, a meditation space totally transformed my practice into something much deeper and effective. It has truly become a space I return to when I feel overwhelmed, anxious or stressed out. Somedays, I spend a majority of my morning or evening just sitting in my meditation corner and catching some good vibes while reading or drinking tea.

So how do you create a meditation space in your home?

It’s easy! You can really invest as much or little amount of money, time and space into it as you want.

For starters, I would find the specific space you want to use. I prefer to meditate in natural light so I chose a space right next to my patio doors. I love hearing the morning doves and feeling the sun on my skin as a meditate.

The most important thing to do is to TRULY set the intention for that space. Let it be known that no negative thoughts or vibes can enter your sacred space; that this space is dedicated to meditation, transformation and healing.

I used sage and a prayer when I first started my meditation space. This helped clear the energy and provided a ritualistic approach to setting the intention for that space.

  • Meditation Pillow

When I first began meditating, I would sit directly on the floor. (Which is totally fine!) I didn’t realize that my posture was horrible. My shoulders were next to my ears, my back was slouching, and after a few minutes my hips began to ache. I suffer from super tight hip flexors so after a solid few months of practice, I bought myself a meditation pillow and it made ALL the difference.

  • Yoga Mat

Meditation Pillows might not be your cup of tea! Or maybe you prefer something a little more versatile. I totally get it, girl! Somedays I prefer to use my yoga mat. I’ve had my Gaiam Yoga mat for a little over a year and it hasn’t let me down! It has two patterns so it’s reversible. AKA, you get two yoga mats in one! I use this for my daily yoga practice so it has 5mm of cushioning and is opted for non-slip performance! If you’re new to yoga + meditation and don’t know what your preferences are, check out this yoga mat.

  • Himalayan Salt Lamp

I was really skeptical when I first heard about Himalayan Salt Lamps. After having purchasing a small one and keeping it next to my desk, I noticed a huge improvement in my mood, energy and my allergies. I have since then purchased them as gifts and have added at least one to every room. They are great to purify the air in your home, ionizes the air and omits a beautiful amber glow to the room.

  • Lotus Incense Burner

I love incense burning! They always give me a burst of energy or calm me down – depending on the sent. I have purchased many incense holders in the past and this one is by far my favorite. It doesn’t spill the ashes everywhere and burns vertically instead of horizontally which helps with spreading releasing the scent and keeping the ashes in one place. If you’re not sure what scents you like this is a great starter pack that has a ton of variety.

  • Positive Energy Candle

I love a good candle. I especially love positive energy! Candles are a great way to omit any negative energy that may be clouding your space or even yourself. I love the smell of this particular candle because it’s not too overpowering or abrasive. This Root Chakra candle is another one of my favorites that I burn on a daily basis!

  • Chamomile Tea

Not all tea is created equal. Seriously! I love Chamomile tea because it has zero caffeine in it. Certain teas, like green tea or black tea have caffeine in them and it can cause me to be super anxious and really play to my monkey mind. I still love green tea + black tea but I try to only have one cup a day! Sippin’ on a warm drink really brings me back to center and helps be regain any lost focus.

  • Real Happiness

I am one of those people who has to do their research before I do anything. It’s a blessing and sometimes a curse. Most of the time it’s a blessing. When I first started getting serious about my meditation practice, it was a lot of trial and error. I didn’t know what worked and where to turn to when I need more guidance. This book really helped me figure it all out and has been one of the greatest resources of all. This is a GREAT place to start.

  • Mindfulness For Beginners

Jon Kabat-Zinn is responsible for really westernizing mindfulness. I recently purchased this book and instantly found myself more in love with mindfulness than before. He shows us that the “practice of mindfulness holds the possibility of not just a fleeting sense of contentment, but a true embracing of a deeper unity that envelops and permeates our lives.” If you’re interested in mindfulness and meditation this is a great place to begin and find a deeper meaning to practicing mindfulness.

I hope that you find something to spruce up your meditation space to get you in the mood for some good vibes and healing!

  1. I need to reorganize my bedroom so I can have a dedicated meditation space. At the moment I sit on my bed to meditate or in my chair where I also do work (lots of negative energy there!).
Your ideas are great, thank you.

  15. I learned more interesting things on this losing weight issue. One issue is that good nutrition is tremendously vital any time dieting. A massive reduction in fast foods, sugary food items, fried foods, sugary foods, red meat, and bright flour products may perhaps be necessary. Possessing wastes unwanted organisms, and wastes may prevent targets for losing fat. While selected drugs briefly solve the condition, the nasty side effects are not worth it, and they never provide more than a temporary solution. This is a known proven fact that 95 of celebrity diets fail. Many thanks sharing your ideas on this web site.

  17. Most varieties of bagged green tea you find in the grocery store will not yield high-quality tea. The small bags constrict the tea leaves during steeping, and they usually contain lower-quality, machine-processed tea leaves.
